School VISIT to ERA CIPHR LAB

On May 2, 2022, about 30 students from School KORVEKULA POHIKOOL in Tartu, Estonia, visited the ERA CIPHR Lab. They were taught and shown optical experiments such as the Michelson Interferometer, Fizeau Interferometer, and SAGNAC Interferometer. A presentation was also delivered to the students in order to encourage them to enroll as Physics students at the University of Tartu and pursue a career as Scientist

We visited the Department of Medical Sciences, Institute of Clinical Medicine on April 28th, 2022. Prof. Andres Salumets and Dr. Vijayachitra Modhukur, Bioinformatics Researcher, as well as Prof. Ganesh Acharya, Professor and Head of the Division of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology (CLINTEC), Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, participated in an online discussion. We talk about how we might collaborate on Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM), Doppler ultrasound, PW Doppler, Twin-twin transfusion syndrome, Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), and Endometrial cancer.

On April 25th, 2022, Associate Prof. Siim Pikker, University of Tartu, Field of Natural and Exact Sciences, Institute of Physics, Associate Professor of Micro and Nanooptics, and Associate Prof. Taavi Repän, University of Tartu, Field of Natural and Exact Sciences, Institute of Physics, Associate Professor of Computational Photonics met with us to discuss working with microscopes, spectrometers, luminous measurement systems, sensor technology, and computational imaging. We toured all of the Natural and Exact Sciences laboratories. They were specifically interested in collaborating on computational imaging's experimental work and simulations.

Prof. Andres Salumets, Professor of Reproductive Medicine at the University of Tartu and Karolinska Institute, Sweden and Dr. Vijayachitra Modhukur, Bioinformatics Researcher, met with us on April 22, 2022 to discuss the possibility of collaborating on image data analysis, the Endometrial Cancer Project, and other pathological image-related projects.

Oliivika Zeiger Birthday celebration
On April 21, 2022, the ERA CIPHR TEAM celebrated Oliivika Zeiger Birthday celebration.

“Wishing her a great birthday and a memorable year”

On April 20, 2022, we visited to Prof. Aile Tamm, University of Tartu, Department of Natural and Exact Sciences, Institute of Physics, Head of Laboratory and Prof. Kaupo Kukli, Professor of Materials Science
